A Chance to Tell your Story
By admin | February 25th, 2011 | Category: Blog & Media Center | 2 commentsKristin Swanton, M.A. candidate at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is currently working on her Masters thesis on the archaeology at the Battle of Mystic Fort. Her specific focus explores how the legacy and memory of the Pequot War have impacted archaeological research. Preliminary findings were recently presented at the Society for Historical Archaeology Conference in Austin, Texas.
Kristin hopes to conduct interviews with landowners at or near the site and English and Pequot descendents of the War. These interviews will last approximately one hour and can be done in person or over the phone. Questions during these interviews will revolve around your knowledge of the Pequot War, how this information has been shared/learned within your family, and any involvement you have had in the archaeological research. Interviewees have the option of remaining anonymous or given pseudonyms, and all interviewees will receive copies of her Masters thesis after its completion. Kristin will be visiting the area at the end of February and some time in March for in person interviews.
If you have any questions or you would like to participate in an interview, please feel free to contact her at k.e.swanton@iup.edu or at (585) 455-4741.
